Wood and tailoring: Morelato presents Moby Dick

The forms of nature pervade the new armchair by MORELATO, Moby Dick.

But how was this new product born and what inspired its shapes? Let’s hear it straight from its designer, Libero Rutilo.

“Moby Dick was born from an attempt to create an iconic, narrative furnishing element. I wanted a product that would tell a story and at the same time be inspired by the natural world. I thought of the novel Moby Dick and the majestic beauty of the whale, and I was overwhelmed by the sensations of that magnificent story.”

The backrest of the armchair, made of precious ash wood, is the clear focal point of the object, a morphological and enveloping element that recalls the outline of a whale’s tail – and that similarly expresses solidity and great balance at the same time as softness and elegance.

Moby Dick tells of adventures and distant worlds. It is a refined, sinuous and versatile armchair, perfect for those who love the tailoring of a unique product, combined with a refined and avant-garde design in the typical MORELATO style. The seat can be upholstered in leather or fabric, available in different shades to meet any need.

Moby Dick is the ideal choice for domestic environments, and its personality makes it even suitable for contract spaces.
