The winners and honorable mentions have been announced for the 2021 edition of the TOSCANINI Company’s competition “The Art of Hanging/Manca ‘ncó ‘n plûch!”
The contest brief asked designers to create a visual representation of the company’s motto: “manca ‘ncó ‘n plûch”, or “just a little bit more.” The brand’s vision, values and mission are all contained in that one phrase. The Piedmontese dialect word plûch means something very tiny – in this case, “the infinitesimal distance between well-done and excellent.” TOSCANINI, the leading producer of garment hangers and solutions for organizing wardrobes and accessories, has been continuously striving to reach that excellence every day for over 100 years.
WINNING DESIGN: awarded to Leonardo Cesati and Giada Orio
The winning project, designed by Leonardo Cesati and Giada Orio, represents the company’s spirit of constant improvement condensed into a sinuous, elegant line. Their original design, inspired by the silhouette of a garment rack and transformed into a dynamic stroke, was later refined by one final step.
This finishing touch, carried out in cooperation with the winner, was aimed at improving the design’s applicability on a wide range of paper and digital touchpoints, allowing its message to come through more clearly.
HONORABLE MENTION: awarded to Irene Macioce and Giulia Madini
Two interpretations of the concept, very different in approach and style, earned an honorable mention for interesting and elegant interpretations of the drive to improve that defines TOSCANINI.
